2019 Walk with the Dragon

Launched in 1986, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation's annual Walk with the Dragon is one of BC's largest family walks. This year, we expect upwards of 5000 participants and 100 teams participate in the event. For 2019, we expect to welcome equally enthusiastic and engaged teams for a 3km panoramic walk along the seawall at Concord Pacific.

Our annual Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala is returning on Saturday, March 10th at The Westin Bayshore Hotel, Vancouver! Come and celebrate the 40TH Anniversary with us!
We are super excited to have Mr. Fred Cheng (鄭俊弘) as our special performer for the night. We look forward to seeing you there!
- Date: Saturday, March 10th, 2018
- Volunteer hours: 1:00pm to 10:00pm (You will take breaks in between to rest and eat)
- Refreshment, water, and dinner box will be provided
- Helper roles include but not limited to silent auction assistance, front stage and back stage assistance, raffle sales etc.

2018 Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Parade

We are excited to share that the annual Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Parade is returning on Sunday, February 18th, 2018! This signature event of Vancouver's Chinatown will feature lion dances, cultural dance troupes, marching bands, martial arts performances and many more. This is an annual cultural extravaganza not to be missed and will for sure be a very rewarding volunteer experience!
- Event Day: Sunday, Feb 18th, 2018 (Volunteer hours between 8:00am - 4:30pm)
- Set-up Day: Saturday, Feb 17th, 2018 (Volunteer hours between 10:00am - 4:30pm)
- Duties: Set-up, crowd control, on-site helper with multiple duties, clean-up, etc.
- Number of volunteers needed: 200
- Volunteer Orientation: Feb 10th, 2018, 3:00-5:00 pm @ Choi Hall, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Social Service Centre
- Dress Code: please dress warmly with no open-toed shoes (preferably no high-heels) on the event day

Duration: From February to May 2018
Commitment: Minimum one shift (3 hours) per week, Monday to Friday (Except holidays)
Shifts: Morning (10am-1pm) OR Afternoon (2pm-5pm)
Scope of work:
- Answer phone and/or walk-in inquiries
- Assist clients with registration and appointment reservation
- Prepare handouts or flyers for participants
- Provide data entry and filing assistance
- Support staff for program operation (volunteer management, membership management, etc)
Qualifications:
- Basic computer operation knowledge
- Excellent communication skills
- Organized and accurate in maintaining records
- Fluent in English, additional languages (Cantonese, Mandarin) an asset
- Good customer service skills

United Way Schools Out SUCCESS Program 2017- 2018
Volunteer Helper Opportunities

This position entails 2 hours (or 4 hours) per week for a 18-week commitment on Tuesday and/or Thursday. SUCCESS Schools Out program is delivered twice a week from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, but volunteering normally starts at 3:30 pm.
We are looking for individuals who could attend all(or one) sessions per week for a weekly time commitment of approximately 2 hours.
Volunteers are open to all ages including youth over the age of 16, college students and parents who want to work on their volunteer hours for graduation, explore youth-related jobs and or interact with school-age children. And language proficiency should be LINC level 4 above.

The Chinese Help Lines team is looking for volunteer mentors who have basic English, are fluent in Cantonese or Mandarin, and can commit to 40 hours of professional training with a training fee.
